Firstly, let’s start with the name of the band. Once Theo and Adam stayed in a band called Daggers and then they also chose other names for their band. Why do they identify the band’s name as Hurts at last?
AA: In fact, when we came up with the name Hurts we had already decided that we would never want other names. This name contains a lot of emotions. In addition, this word sounds very cool, which is also very important.
Your own are also the producer of your first album, which is quite rare for a new band. Why do you want to do your own album all by yourself at the beginning?
AA: When we started to make Hurts we had already decided that we would never cooperate with other people. Another reason is that we feel confident with things done all by ourselves. At that time we created the song “Unspoken” which set a tone for our album.

In the summer of 2008, Friendly Fires’ first album is like fresh breeze from the sea and the light and soft Synth-Pop melody bring us coolness. Let’s have a look at how they interpret the theme of the summer in 2011.Were you members of the Hardcore band before?JS: Yes, to some degree we are still a rock band, but now we find something more interesting. We find our new rhythm. Your first album does not sound just people dancing in the dance floor. Instead, it sounds like a dance on the beach or in the forest. Do you regard those light keyboard melody as an integral part of your music?JS: Yes, I think sometimes it is easier for people to identify us as a band of manufacturing popular songs for the dance pool but in fact we have been trying to make our music absorb a good melody continuously and make some changes in the details. You can listen to our songs on the beach or in the forest if you like. We want to make people feel colorful and feel comfortable.The rhythm part is very important to us, which is essential for our music.

Dre came to Canada to hold their concerts at that time and I found where they stayed and then waited there. When I met Eminem and D. Dre, I told them I wanted to become the greatest singer in the world and they thought I was good so they introduced me to R. Kelly. So were you already a fan of Eminem and D. Dre at that time? KJ: Yes, I like them very much. So I would go to their hotel to block them just like other funs. And they didn’t know who I was. The process is very interesting.
I wanted to enter the entertainment business very much at that time. I dreamed the dream when I was a little girl. I began to study ballet when I was 2 years old and I began to study violin at age of 4 and it lasted for 11 years. I even won a champion in a model competition.
